Who exactly is Roger Christian?

Roger Christian may not be a name that pops up when you think of Star Wars. He may not be George Lucas, John Williams, or Samuel L. Jackson. However, the 81 year old has influenced the millions of viewers on Star Wars. In particular, Roger worked on Star Wars: A New Hope. He created Obi Wan’s blue lightsaber, R2-D2, the Stormtrooper’s gun, and Princess Leia’s gun, as well.
He was a positive influence when things were old school. Of course, we remember the Star Wars artists painting the stormtroopers in the ship waiting for the arrival of Darth Vader.
Now days, directors are bringing characters back from the dead or making them look far younger.
Roger is also an impressive director and his work is somewhat dark. He’s directed “Battlefield Earth”, “Stranded”, and “Black Angel”. His art work as also been on “Alien”.
I just hope Roger has many years left in him. It seems that Star Wars actors are gone too soon. It would be quite impressive to see Roger and Harrison Ford live as long as John Williams, who is 93 years old! Let’s’ not forget that Williams is still working as a composer.

He won an award for Best Art Direction for his work on, A New Hope. He also had a second Oscar nomination for putting his touch on “Alien”. These are arguably Top-10 movies of all time.
I’d love to see Roger make a new lightsaber or blaster for future Star Wars films. It could be a black lightsaber. I’d love to see it be a tad cooler than Darth Maul’s double, red lightsaber.
